summer bucket list
Welcome Summer!! Today marks the summer solstice and the official arrival of the summer season. And, believe me, the weather has been cooperating. In fact, it's been downright HOT for the past couple of weeks. In honor of summer's arrival, I threw this little 'summer bucket list' together. You may think I'm just going to be playing around all summer long... boy, I hope you're right!! My intentions for the next few months are to simply enjoy life. Mind you, I'm not naive enough to believe that there won't be "things" that come up, but for now I'm just focusing on having a relaxing, enjoyable summer with my family and friends. My new little grandson will be here in August and I can hardly wait!! Enjoy you're extra long day... and the weekend.

so long, summer
Well, it's official. Summer has ended. Autumn has arrived and I'm spending the first day enjoying the last day of a wonderful summer vacation. So relaxing and very much needed. I'm not really feeling sad about Summer's end. As stated in an earlier post, I love the change of seasons. I'm just going to close my eyes and soak up what's left of the warm sun while dreaming of a cool, crisp fall day...some soup...and a cute scarf...and maybe a carameled apple or two. Bring it on...

spectacular sunrise
I woke up early this morning to a spectacular sunrise. Another beautiful day ahead at gorgeous Lake Powell. Trying to enjoy as much of the warm weather as possible, knowing that when we get home, cooler weather will be here.

day at the lake
We are spending what little bit of summer there is left at Lake Powell with some of our dear friends. The weather is perfect and the company is even better. We took a ski run today and the water was great. Bob took advantage of some of that smooth LP water and showed us all up. Good times.

late summer sunrise
Summer is fading away. Even the sky this morning was filled with the colors of autumn. Some people hate to see summer end. But, I love this time of year. As one season is ending, and another is about to start, I get a rejuvenated feeling. Like a new year has begun. It's one of the reasons I love so much living in a place that has 4 complete seasons. It's like having a fresh start every few months. My moods change with each new season, as do my interests. This time of year, I get antsy to pick up my indoor hobbies like quilting and baking, and I set aside my outdoor hobbies like gardening. Each season brings with it wonder and beauty, especially through my camera lens. As the pink and purple flowers die off in my yard, the leaves on the trees begin to change to orange, red and gold. It's like a fresh new coat of paint on the world. And the best part....the painting is done for me:)

falling for nightfall
I just can't get enough of them. We have had so many beautiful sunsets this summer. We had a horrible inversion yesterday, but the silver gold lining was this beautiful sunset last night. It's like the sky was on fire. Ironically, it was still so hot outside that it also 'felt' like the sky was on fire. Simply Gorgeous!

dog days of summer
We are now officially enjoying trudging through the dog days of summer. It has certainly been a hot one this year. I don't know about you, but I'm ready for a ten degree drop in temperature. Summers like this remind me of why I have always wanted a pool in my backyard. Wouldn't it be nice to just dive in right now? Okay, this is an indoor pool, but that would be even better, right?

wildflower passion
Something you may not know about me is that I have a passion for wildflowers. Yellow ones, white ones, purple ones, it really doesn't matter what color. They are especially pretty in the early morning sunlight. I captured these babies a couple of weeks ago at our cabin. They looked so soft and dreamy. It's hard to believe they will soon be replaced by snow. But, until then, I'm going to keep on clickin' :)

my summer is complete!
They're here!! My beautiful black-eyed susans.
I wait all summer for them to bloom and fill my vases inside. Something about them just fills me with joy. Their yellow color is to die for and looks so good in every room of my home. And now, my summer is complete:)

pedal pusher
Breaking News!! We bought our grandson this bike in the Spring. He couldn't touch the pedals, but he still had fun scooting himself along on our back patio. Every week since then, Grammie and Tate have performed a ritual. 'The measuring of the legs' ritual, to see if he can reach the pedals yet. This past week he could finally reach!! We threw our hands up in the air and shouted out "you can touch the pedals, you can touch the pedals". It seems silly, but Tate felt like such a big boy :) The funny thing is that his toes are holding on for dear life and his lower body was stretched out as far as humanly possible. But he still did it, and now he's my little pedal pusher!

resident robin
I have a resident robin in a tree just outside my kitchen window. It's been there for a few weeks now, just hanging out. I sit and watch it while I do the dishes. It doesn't seem to be afraid of me. It just sits and stares back at me. I've been wanting to take a picture of it, but I'm always worried it will fly away while I'm getting my camera out. But, yesterday was the day. I left the camera on the counter anticipating the shot. Sure enough, the robin dropped in for a little visit around dinner time and 'click' I was ready. And then it just stayed there, which leads me to believe I could have gotten this photo weeks ago.... 'sigh'.

a quick over-nighter
We decided at the spur of the moment to run up to the cabin for a little overnighter. Just the two of us. Sometimes the quick trips turn out to be the best trips. The weather was beautiful and it was so relaxing. Here's just a few pics I took while I was there. I love summer!!
