music to my ears
I'm not one to promote or try to sell things on my blog, but my guitar teacher has a CD out for the Christmas season and it's really, really good. All Wrapped Up, by Nancy Hanson is the title. If you're in the mood for some fun holiday music that includes some awesome guitar, check it out. It has some of the great classic Christmas songs on it, but also includes a couple of originals that Nancy wrote. If you're like me, you can never have enough Christmas music.

52 photos project {the closed window}
This week's photo prompt includes no faces or facial expressions. Just body language is used to portray a feeling or tell a story. I chose to take a selfie of a stolen moment of peace and calm amongst the hustle and bustle of the holiday season. It's moments like this that keep me grounded. So loving my guitar right now!

hey there delila
She's gone, and I miss her. My Delila has gone off to Colorado without me. Over the past few months I have been noticing some issues with her finish, which shouldn't be happening considering she is only 6 months old. And now, they have sent her away to a luthier in Colorado for a little repair work. Luckily, I have Aria to take her place fill in until she is back. I'm officially 6 months into guitar lessons and still loving every minute of it. Best thing I ever did. Well, besides getting married and having kids:)Hurry home Delila...I miss you.

my inspiration
Just look at her. She's an inspiration to me, and doesn't even know it. Because of her, I'm doing something very scary and very new. I've been taking guitar lessons for 5 months now, and enjoying every minute of it. Never in a million years did I think I would ever do it. It was a dream of mine, but from a long, long time ago. Thoughts like "I'm too old to start something new," kept creeping into my head. Enter Brooke. My you-can-do-anything-mom child. Full of encouragement and borderline pushyish. I love that about her. Turns out she was right. I am doing it, and I love it! It's hard to 'begin' something new in my life. Most of the things I spend my time doing I have already mastered. That's why I do them. But this is different. So unlike anything else I do. So unnecessary. But so darn fun. I won't be joining a band soon, but I'd be lying if I said I don't already belong to one... at least in my head:) It doesn't come easy to me. In fact my guitar teacher says that the older you are, the tougher it is to learn. I'm okay with that. I have an abundance of patience. And besides, anything worth doing takes a long time and a lot of effort. Right? So I'll just continue to rock on!! Okay, that may have been a bit too much . . .

Me, Myself and I
I had to do a selfie today for my photo class.
Talk about out of my comfort zone.
I love to take pictures of other people.
I don't even mind being in pictures
other people are taking.
But, to take my own picture . . . .
AWKWARD!
It was actually easier than I thought, though.
I just pulled a chair up to the window,
grabbed my guitar to relax me,
set the timer on my camera
and click. . .
it was over that fast.
I'm not sure what the big deal was.
It really does help
to do these types of things
that are out of the box for me.
It makes me stretch and grow a little.
Which is good for all of us, right?

Strummin' My Six String
Each year I try to do something new.
Something different, a little out of the box.
Last year it was a half marathon,
the year before tennis lessons,
the year before that I wrote a novel.
This year I have gone a whole new direction.
I have always wanted to know how to play the guitar.
This may come as a surprise to most people.
It's a desire I have kept well hidden for years.
Last month, while Brooke was home for Christmas break,
she kindly offered to teach me a few chords.
I'm officially hooked!
